Extending and re-modelling a Scandia Hus House, Sussex
Originally built in the 1980s, the Client bought the house for its garden setting and location. Penton Architects were approached to improve the living and bedroom accommodation including an improved relationship to the garden setting and getting light into the deep-plan space.
The proposals create a new vista down the longest section of the garden, with the introduction of an angled, fully glazed wall creating a new open-plan kitchen / living / dining area. The existing garage has been extended upwards and converted to create a separate sitting room with master bedroom suite above. The re-modelled accommodation provides flexibility with the potential for a separate annexe / rental.
