A semi-detached cottage located in a rural location had a lean-to extension off the kitchen at the north side of the house. The client wanted to retain the cottage feeling whilst extending and re-modelling at ground level to form a new kitchen with improved cloakroom and dining areas.

The design respects the aesthetic of the original cottage and its neighbour. Daylight into the north-facing kitchen is achieved through the careful placing of roof lights, which catch sunlight throughout the day.
