Project Description

New Build Eco House, Sussex

Located in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the original 1920s detached house provided mis-matched bedroom accommodation and no physical or visual linkages to the garden plot. Originally the client wished to extend and refurbish the existing house and Penton Architects achieved Planning Approval for a substantial extension and refurbishment.  The challenges of thermally upgrading the building to Passive Haus standards lead the Client to ask Penton Architects to submit another planning application for a new-build using the same design, which was approved.  The proposals provide accommodation for the 21st Century responding to the views, topography and sunlight on the plot giving a low maintenance and thermally excellent building.

Conversion of the space above the garage and store provides a full office or a stand-alone guest suite.
