Project Description
New-Build Speculative Houses, Kent
Working in partnership with a local developer, Abodenova Ltd, two speculative houses were designed and built alongside a private commission undertaken the previous year.
The houses replaced a 1930s property on a south-facing, mature site. They are designed to maximize natural light and connection to their garden setting including capturing late afternoon sun at high level to penetrate into the heart of the house.
The houses have a low roof line and untreated oak cladding that integrates the house in to its mature green belt setting sympathetically. Living rooms benefit from floor to ceiling glazing and floor finishes that flow seamlessly inside to out, strengthening the relationship between the interior and the landscape.
The design and orientation of the houses significantly reduces their energy requirements with excellent natural light and passive solar gain.
