Project Description

Listed House Kitchen Extension

A Grade II Listed farmhouse in the same family for 40 years, this house was in need of some refurbishment to bring it up to accepted modern standards. Several unsympathetic side extensions had been carried out in previous decades (prior to listing) and the brief was to replace these with a new extension to accommodate an enlarged kitchen / breakfast room.

The new extension is contemporary in design and detailing whilst respecting the scale and proportion of the existing building with the new roof closely relating to the transition from brickwork to tile-hanging.

The new structure is a green oak frame which is clearly expressed externally. This forms a ‘loggia’ providing a covered external circulation area.
